Barry Shapiro

Barry Shapiro grew up among the 1960’s mid-century artistic influences of Los Angeles. Now living in Tucson Arizona, his photography is defined by a desire to capture the interplay of light, textural space, and the human presence in Black + White.

"The art of photography is about quietude and feeling deeply, and fully." Shapiro says. “I’m passionately inspired by what lies beneath the surface with people and their environments.”

His photographs are in private collections in a number of countries around the world.

Shapiro's work is best described as humanistic photojournalism.
